ECHO Rising Stars

A black & white picture of Christoph Sietzen performing

Percussion virtuoso Christoph Sietzen presents an evening at the cutting edge of contemporary percussion music – including a bespoke commission by Stewart Copeland.

The ECHO Rising Stars programme showcases Europe’s most dynamic young artists - and they don’t come much more dynamic than Sietzen. He’s put together a concert that spans the whole range of new percussion music, anchored by true modern classics by Xenakis, Pärt and Piazzolla.

But that’s just part of a musical universe that extends from the electronica of Emmanuel Sejourné to a new creation by Stewart Copeland of The Police. The Luxembourg-born Sietzen is fascinated by it all – and acknowledges no boundaries. One continental critic has said that his playing hits ‘a transcendental level, in which […] it touches the limits of what is possible.’ But we think you’ll be thoroughly entertained, too.
