Adès, Barry and Beethoven

Britten Sinfonia

Britten Sinfonia on stage with conductor

Volatile substances: Thomas Adès and Britten Sinfonia mix the music of Beethoven and Gerald Barry. Hear them explode…

Thomas Adès puts down his baton and takes a seat at the piano in this chamber concert which complements the symphony cycle and showcases Beethoven and Barry in a more intimate setting. Ades is joined by principal members of Britten Sinfonia for a performance of Beethoven's exploration of instrumental sonorities, the Quintet for Piano and Winds, and by Allan Clayton for Barry's setting of Lewis Carroll's famous nonsense poem, Jabberwocky.
