Bach Violin Sonatas

Bach Weekend

Isabelle Faust, violinist

Beauty without end: chamber music of Johann Sebastian Bach, performed by violinist Isabelle Faust and harpsichordist Kristian Bezuidenhout.

The sonatas and partitas that Bach wrote for use at home and amongst friends are just as beautiful as his cantatas, and they contain some of his profoundest inspirations. Isabelle Faust and Kristian Bezuidenhout both understand this music from the inside.

In fact, when Faust performed the partitas at the Wigmore Hall in 2013, The Guardian praised the “variety and beauty” of her interpretations, adding that “This didn’t feel like a ‘period’ performance”. Though with Kristian Bezuidenhout as her partner, there’s no doubt that her performances tonight will be rooted in a deep and sincere fidelity to one overriding ideal: letting Bach speak.
