Who is Dayani Cristal? (12A)

Who is Dayani Cristal?

A corpse found in the scorching heat of the Arizona desert, on the border of the US and Mexico, inspires a quest for answers.

Mexican actor Gael García Bernal and director Marc Silver (3½ Minutes, Ten Bullets) embark on a journey to retrace the dead migrant's steps in an attempt to discover his identity. The only clue aiding their quest is a ‘Dayani Cristal’ tattoo on his body.

A shocking glimpse at the impact of a militarised border – and the story of one particular migrant who has died on his journey to cross the border, like many others.

‘The decisions that are made in places like Washington affect people thousands of miles away… it’s not just a story of the US-Mexico border. It’s a story that resonates from North Africa, to Indonesia and Australia, where people are dying’. – Marc Silver, The Huffington Post
