Cave of Forgotten Dreams

Sit back and enjoy a magical journey into the depths of our collective history, with Werner Herzog as your guide.

In 1994, explorers in the south of France discovered a cave containing some of the best preserved and oldest cave paintings in the world. The cave was quickly sealed-off to the public to ensure its preservation, meaning a physical visit to these extraordinary works is not possible, but this film allows for an astonishing 3D virtual visit.

Master documentarian Werner Herzog (Aguirre, the Wrath of God, Fitzcarraldo) provides the proper depth perception for a guided tour of this spectacular location. You will never have seen anything like this before.

‘Magical. It’s almost like watching the reinvention of the cinematic medium’ – Andrew Pulvar, The Guardian
