Afro Celt Sound System

Afro Celt Sound System

Simon Emmerson’s collective present their distinctively cross-continental sound live with a host of international guests.

For tonight’s show Emmerson is joined by long-term vocalist, kora and balafon player N’Faly Kouyaté and Dhol drummer Johnny Kalsi. An expanded line-up of musicians will bring the group's sound to another level as they reflect on a back-catalogue stretching back nearly twenty years with undiluted vigour. Expect new material too, with the band currently busying themselves in the studio recording the follow-up to 2016’s The Source.

Afro Celt Sound System harmoniously combine folk traditions from Europe and Africa via Asia and beyond with an irrepressible energy. This comes to glorious fruition in their captivating live performances, for which they have won extensive plaudits, including the accolade for Best Group at the 2017 Songlines Music Awards.

This performance will begin promptly at the advertised start time of 8pm

Running time 2 hours 30 minutes including interval
