My Pure Land (15)

film still from My Pure Land

Set in rural Pakistan, three women must do all they can to defend their home from a group of armed men.

Based on a true story, this striking drama sees a mother and her two young daughters; Nazo and Saeda, fight to protect their secluded home from an army of armed men, who want to take it forcibly from them. The intruders have been sent to the property by the girls' uncle who will go to any lengths to take ownership of the building.

The neighbours have been warned off and the corrupt local police offer no help. The women are truly on their own in this fight for survival, armed with machine guns and a supply of bullets thinning fast, they still refuse to give in.

An exciting yet tense first feature from British Pakistani filmmaker Sarmad Masud.
