God's Own Country (15)

Still from Gods Own Country

Acclaimed as one of the year's best British films, this is a stunning, raw film about a young troubled sheep farmer in Yorkshire, whose life is transformed by the arrival of a migrant worker.

While all his friends from school come and go from university, Johnny Saxby has had to stay to work his widowed father’s farm in the Dales after he has a stroke. Exhausted and frustrated he spends his spare time binge drinking and having casual sex with people he meets in town.

Everything changes when Gheorge arrives, a thoughtful and calm young man from Romania who is employed for spring lambing season. While on nights away repairing an old stone wall the two find themselves in an intense connection that brings Johnny out of his isolation and leads him onto a new path.

Featuring Josh O'Connor, Alec Secareanu, Gemma Jones and Ian Hart
