Love and Betrayal

Tafelmusik

Tafelmusik ensemble in warehouse

One of the world’s foremost Baroque ensembles remind us that this music is – consummately – about emotion, with a programme of Handel and Vivaldi aimed straight at the heart.

Under the imaginative direction of Elisa Citterio, the Toronto-based Tafelmusik have built a global reputation for their inimitable flair. They begin with a programme devoted to their instrumental music of the two great composers at their most unashamedly ardent and flamboyant. And then they’re joined by soprano Karina Gauvin – praised by Gramophone for her ‘poise, grace and spirit’ – for a sequence of great operatic arias contrasting love with betrayal, including numbers from Agrippina and Ottone in Villa.

This concert will finish at approximately 9pm, including a 20 minute interval.
