Andreas Ottensamer and Yuja Wang in recital

Andreas Ottensamer and Yuja Wang at a piano

Yuja Wang is one of the most compelling musical personalities of our time. Alongside clarinet royalty Andreas Ottensamer – principal clarinettist of the Berlin Phil – the results will raise the roof.

Virtuosity runs through these performers’ veins. And since Weber and Debussy wrote for the greatest living players of their day, this programme could have been tailor-made for this once-in-a-lifetime duo.

Certainly, when Wang and Ottensamer played together at the Edinburgh Festival in 2019, they brought the house down. 'An instinctive musical partnership, liquidly expressive, intoxicating', wrote The Scotsman. But while Wang and Ottensamer are sure to have some dazzling surprises up their sleeves, the essence of their partnership is a sincere and deeply serious shared artistry, brought wholeheartedly to bear on arrangements by Ottensamer himself of a selection of Felix Mendelssohn's Songs without Words.

This performance will finish at approximately 9.20pm, including a 20 minute interval.
