Nordic Jazz Comets

EFG London Jazz Festival FreeStage

Sigme cuddling

Jazz from the north – five bands and artists chosen from the fertile musical territory that includes Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

First up is Icelandic pianist Baldvin Snær who plays music from his album Renewal. Finland's Signe, which means 'a woman triumphant', are a sisterhood of four voices and double bass. Danish quintet I Just Came from the Moon won the Danish Young Jazz Competition in 2016, and perform their album Hoax, with the atmospheric writing of leader Ferderik Hagner at the core. Norway’s BounceAlarm are a sextet combining whiplash bop breaks, oases of cool jazz, and rock energy. Finally to Sweden, whose Don-Qui Five take to the stage with a brand of massive and hyperactive acoustic impro-rock.

Produced by Serious

The Nordic Jazz Comets is a collaboration of the Nordic jazz organizations: FIH Music School & Iceland Music Export, JazzDanmark, Jazz Finland, Norsk jazzforum and Svensk Jazz.

The project is supported by the Nordic Culture Point.
