BBC Radio 3 Lunchtime Concert: Les Sonores de France

Adam Walker & Alasdair Beatson

Adam Walker

Adam Walker, LSO Principal Flute, begins a new series of BBC Radio 3 Lunchtime Concerts, showcasing the melodies, sounds and musical voices of France.

The flute has a prized position in French music, with a distinctive 'French' style of playing – rich, pure and expressive. In this concert Adam Walker, whose performances with the London Symphony Orchestra have been praised for their ‘staggering virtuosity and charm’ by The Guardian, takes a look at the sounds and atmospheres conjured up for this instrument by some of the 20th-century’s greatest French composers.

Recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 3
