Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool (15)

A still from Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool

Paul McGuigan adapts Peter Turner's memoir to uncover the remarkable love affair between fading Hollywood star Gloria Grahame and the young struggling actor in the 1970s.

In 1981, once a Hollywood star, Gloria Grahame (Annette Bening) collapses while touring a modest theatre production around the UK. Following her collapse she reaches out to her former lover, the much younger Peter Turner (Jamie Bell) in Liverpool. When he brings her to his family home and into the care of his mother (Julie Walters), memories of their passionate love affair begin to resurface.

With an undeniable and effortless chemistry between Bening and Bell, Paul McGuigan’s adaptation captures their love story with humour, passion and insight.
