The Voice of Hind Rajab (18*)

Preview Screening

Kaouther Ben Hania’s latest triumph transforms the last recorded words of a six-year-old girl in Gaza into a vital act of remembrance.

January, 2024. Red Crescent volunteers receive an emergency call. A six-year-old girl is trapped in a car under fire in Gaza, pleading for rescue. While trying to keep her on the line, they do everything they can to get an ambulance to her. Her name was Hind Rajab.

Blending real-life audio from Palestine Red Crescent Society with re-enactments, this single-location film makes a deliberate effort to keep violence off-screen. Instead, the invisible is highlighted as Ben Hania zone in on the waiting, the fear, the unbearable sound of silence when help doesn’t come.

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Venice Film Festival, the Tunisian director has previously been nominated for the Academy Award in the best international feature category for The Man Who Sold His Skin (2020), and in the best documentary category for 2024's Four Daughters

Please note: This film is based on real events, and contains distressing content including realistic depictions of warfare, violence against civilians, the death of a child and real emergency call audio recorded by the Palestine Red Crescent. The imagery and mature themes of this film may be difficult for some audience members.
