So Watt Special: Derek Bailey - New Sights, Old Sounds

Cinema Restored

Derek Bailey

A film screening of rare, unseen footage of Derek Bailey from the Incus Records archive and beyond, capturing his performances and collaborations across decades and continents.

Opening a short season of events around London to mark the twentieth anniversary of the death of innovative guitarist Derek Bailey, we present a collection of rare film and video material from the archives of Incus Records and beyond. Many of these recordings have never been seen before.

Join us as we travel the globe, across the decades, and witness Bailey's encounters with other titans of the improvisation scene.

This event and short season is supported by The Wire magazine. Our thanks to Centre for Contemporary Arts Glasgow and the estates of Derek Bailey and David Reid for permission to screen materials, and to Heritage Quay for the loan of VHS recordings from the Incus Records archive.

The event is co-curated and presented by Ian Greaves.
