Olivia Laing: The Silver Book

Olivia Laing in conversation with Charlie Porter

Olivia Laing

Join acclaimed author and thinker Olivia Laing for the launch of The Silver Book, a gripping new novel set in the surreal world of 1970s Italian cinema.

Celebrate the launch of The Silver Book with Olivia Laing, acclaimed writer of The Lonely City and Everybody. In conversation with fashion critic Charlie Porter, Laing introduces their dazzling new novel: a fictionalised tale of art, politics and obsession set amid the making of Fellini’s Casanova and Pasolini’s Salò

Centred on the legendary costume designer Danilo Donati and a fictionalised account of the events leading up to Pasolini’s brutal and still unsolved murder, this tale is at once a of queer love story and a noir thriller with sharp reflections on illusion, truth and power.

This event will conclude wit a book signing and is part of a wider programme featuring film screenings of Casanova (9 Nov) and Salò (11 Nov, with a Screen Talk marking the 50th anniversary of the film's release).
