The Girl Who Leapt Through Time [4k Restoration] (12A)

Girl Who Leapt Through Time

A time-leaping teen faces the twists of fate and first love in Mamoru Hosoda’s defining anime debut feature.

Makoto is a carefree high schooler whose days revolve around goofing around with friends, until a near-death experience reveals she can leap back in time. At first, she uses the power to fix everyday problems, but soon learns that even small changes can have serious, irreversible consequences.

This emotionally resonant sci-fi story marked a major turning point for director Mamoru Hosoda. Just a few years after parting ways with Studio Ghibli on Howl’s Moving Castle, he re-emerged as one of anime’s most vital voices with this thoughtful, visionary adaptation of Yasutaka Tsutsui’s novel.
