Barbican announces Trio Da Kali performance for October 2025

Trio Da Kali
Monday 6 October 2025, 7:30pm
Milton Court Concert Hall
Tickets from £20 plus booking fee
Trio Da Kali brings the depth and soul of Mali’s music and oral storytelling griot tradition to the Barbican Hall in a powerful live performance, blending centuries-old music with fresh, contemporary expression.
Formed by three acclaimed musicians from hereditary griot families, Trio Da Kali creates music rooted in oral tradition but shaped by each member’s distinctive artistry. Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté, widely recognised for her commanding and expressive voice, is joined by Fodé Lassana Diabaté, a master of the balafon, and Mamadou Kouyaté, whose bass ngoni brings a bold, rhythmic foundation informed by years of collaboration and inherited craft.
Trio Da Kali’s music is intimate, layered, and emotionally resonant - drawing from ancient forms while speaking clearly to the present. This concert offers a chance to hear the trio’s unique approach in full focus: reflective, rhythmic, and rich with history.
Produced by the Barbican in association with Earth Cruises
