Complicit: A Michael Haneke Retrospective

Set in a German village on the eve of World War I, Michael Haneke’s Cannes-winning drama examines the rigid social structures that foreshadowed the rise of Nazism.

The 2009 Palme d'Or winner is an anxiety-inducing account of a pre-World War I German village that is beset by a series of incomprehensible tragedies. Each catastrophe appears to be part of a ritual punishment.
