Barbican announces full line-up, a special cinema screening and more for Warp Records takeover

A Warp Happening
Saturday 14 June 2025, all day
Multiple Barbican venues
Tickets from £40* plus booking fee
The Barbican and Warp Records today announces more events and full line-up for A Warp Happening, a special day of music and performances led by the pioneering record label, Warp. Newly announced events include a performance by Slauson Malone 1, premieres by Mark Leckey and kwes. and WARP VISION: Selected Video & Experimental Shorts - a special cinema screening curated by Deeper Than Movies in Barbican Cinema 1 on 14 June. The first Warp label-based event in over a decade will take place across the Barbican in an exclusive all-day takeover and culminate in a grand finale in the Barbican Hall. A Warp Happening is part of the Barbican’s summer season Frequencies.
Taking place in the Barbican Cinema 1, WARP VISION: Selected Video & Experimental Shorts digs deep into the Warp archives to present a curated selection of iconic and rare music videos, shown from original master tapes. Spanning the label’s history, the collection includes work by Chris Cunningham, The Daniels, Andrew Norman Wilson, Jarvis Cocker, Alex Rutherford, Hiro Murai, and more, celebrating how Warp helped turn the music video into an art form and finally presented on the big screen - as they were meant to be seen. French-born, New York-based digital artist and self-described “creative mercenary” Freeka Tet will also present work as part of the Barbican programme, expanding the event’s engagement with the experimental and the uncanny.
Audiences are also invited into the Barbican Conservatory - home to over 1,500 species of plants and trees - for a personal listening experience featuring Kinds, a new sound work from London producer Kwesi Sey, aka [o=o], aka kwes., and his first solo release since the acclaimed Rye Lane (London 2023, Raine Allen Miller) score. Receiving its premiere here across a number of small-group sessions, Kinds strips things back to their essence, offering space for reflection, instinct, and open interpretation. Sessions begin every hour, on the hour, from the entrance of the Conservatory.
Finally, the special day of events culminates in an exclusive evening performance in the Barbican Hall for which Slauson Malone 1 joins a line-up of Battles, Clarissa Connelly, Evian Christ, Mark Leckey, kwes. and Seefeel. Known for his genre-eluding compositions and multidisciplinary performances, Slauson Malone 1 (aka Jasper Marsalis) operates in the space between popular music, visual art, and conceptual experimentation.
Warp exists as a shifting constellation of artists who defy categorisation—where sound becomes sculpture, performance becomes ritual, and genre dissolves into pure expression. From the sonic architecture of Aphex Twin and Autechre to the shape-shifting worlds of Yves Tumor, Kelela, Oneohtrix Point Never, Flying Lotus and beyond, the label has, for over 35 years, been a vessel for radical creativity across form and feeling.
