Debasmita Bhattacharya + Mallick Dharbanga Dhrupad

Darbar Festival

Image of Debasmita Bhattacharya playing the sitar

Two traditions, one soul: where strings speak and voices transcend.

Experience the artistry of Debasmita Bhattacharya, a leading sarod player of her generation. With her exceptional musicality and technical brilliance, she continues the Senia Shahjahanpur gharana's legacy, delivering performances that shift from serene to exhilarating.

Accompanied by the acclaimed tabla virtuoso Satyajit Talwalkar who adds rhythmic brilliance to the stage. Hailing from the Talwalkar gharana, his precise and creative rhythms push the boundaries of tradition.

After the interval, immerse yourself in dhrupad, India's oldest vocal tradition, with the renowned father-son duo, Pandit Premkumar Mallick and Prashant Mallick. Representing the Darbhanga gharana, their performance blends meditative alaap and pakhawaj rhythms, offering a rare and profound glimpse into the spiritual essence of dhrupad.
