Join us for a free adventure day of challenges, creative activities, and fun. Help us reimagine the Barbican’s future while enjoying hands-on experiences designed for families and children under 16.
Here’s what’s in store:
✨ Interactive challenges to spark your creativity
✨ Family-friendly activities designed for all ages
✨ A chance to explore and help reimagine the Barbican’s future
Join our scavenger hunt to unlock different areas of the Barbican Centre and complete activities across four zones. Create a soundtrack for the Barbican, recording sounds from around the site and editing them together. Design your dream public space with model-making and sketching. Make your own welcome guide and map for the Centre at our DIY zine station. Share stories and get up close to plants and nature with special access to the Conservatory for families taking part.
🎁 Children will receive an exclusive gift bag for completing the activities
📅 When: Saturday 22 February
⏰ Time: 10am–3pm (drop-in any time)
The day is organised by Beyond the Box CIC as part of Barbican Renewal's outreach programme and will help us in making the Centre a great place for families and children.
This event is designed for families to attend together so adults can only come if they’re bringing a child, and children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult (14-16s can come unaccompanied).
Please start your journey by signing in at the Fountain Room on Level G before exploring the zones.
You are welcome to stay as long as you wish. We expect it will take around 90 minutes to take part in all the zones.
Last sign-ins will be at 2.30pm but we recommend arriving earlier to have a chance to enjoy all the activities.
The Cloakroom will be open at Level -1. Buggy parks will be available at Level G and the Garden Room.
