Tigran Hamasyan

+ Alice Zawadzki

A man with hark hair and beard with his hands extended forward reaching for the camera

The piano virtuoso with groove power seamlessly fuses potent jazz improvisation and progressive rock with the rich folkloric music of his native Armenia.

Tigran Hamasyan is considered one of the most remarkable and distinctive jazz-meets-rock pianists and composers of his generation.

His latest conceptual album The Bird of a Thousand Voices is inspired by an ancient Armenian tale in which a hero travels into unseen realms to find and bring back a mythical bird – whose thousand different songs travel the world to spread harmony. The mythical bird comes to life in this one-of-a-kind musical experience featuring an intriguing immersive light installation, shadow play, digitally programmed voices and live music in which improvised jazz and Armenian folklore meet.

Award-winning singer, multi-instrumentalist and composer Alice Zawadzki, noted for her artistic openness, emotional directness and striking ability to transcend genre, opens the evening.
