Sing Sing (15)

Relaxed Screening

Incarcerated for a crime that he didn't commit, Divine G (Colman Domingo) finds purpose by acting in a theatre group alongside other prisoners.

Director and co-writer Greg Kwedar’s compelling drama is a fictionalised story based on the real-life Rehabilitation Through the Arts programme in Sing Sing Maximum Security Prison.

The film centres on a group of inmates involved in the creation of their own original theatrical production, Breakin' the Mummy's Code. Professional actors Colman Domingo (Rustin) and Paul Raci (Sound of Metal) star alongside many former inmates who were themselves alumni of the programme.

This moving drama looks at the transformative powers of art, the ingrained flaws in the prison system, and the need for hope.
