Touching Bass presents a special evening with anaiis, one of the most exciting, soul-baring singer-songwriters. Support comes from Astrønne. They bring us a spellbinding blend of R&B, soul and folk.

French-Senegalese artist anaiis is best known for her soul-baring storytelling, often sharing the complex and personal journey of self-healing in pursuit of collective healing. Growing up she moved from Toulouse to Dublin and Dakar before settling in Oakland, California. She then studied at Tisch School of Arts in New York before relocating to London to pursue her music career.

anaiis will perform songs from her debut album this is no longer a dream. Released during the pandemic, the album explores themes of isolation and disillusionment, charting the journey from angst to self-affirmation and hope.

Support comes from Paris-based artist Astrønne, whose songwriting aims to convey in song what cannot often be spoken with words – exploring authentic emotions, both painful and therapeutic.

Start time: 7.30pm

Approximate running time: 120 mins, plus 20 min interval.

Please note all timings are approximate and subject to change.

Produced by the Barbican and Touching Bass.

Touching Bass is the South London-based musical movement: a community-come-club night, record label, staple NTS Radio show and curatorial/creative studio. Underpinning it all is a strong emphasis on creating experiences that feel like home; rich in feeling, intention and powered by music’s ability to connect people.

Produced in partnership with the Barbican, this event presents these two artists in line with Touching Bass' ethos of creating incredibly beautiful and memorable live experiences with some of their favourite artists — from both their local community and international talents — in these world-renowned, one-of-a-kind spaces.
