Guildhall Symphony Orchestra play Messiaen

Action shot of conductor Nicholas Collon

Nicholas Collon conducts the only symphony written by Olivier Messiaen, Turangalîla-Symphonie  often described as a tribute to life, love and death.

Guildhall Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to welcome back the Chief Conductor of the Finnish Radio Symphony and Founder and Principal Conductor of the Aurora Orchestra to conduct this performance, which offers the opportunity to hear the Ondes Martenot played by Cynthia Millar, who has been described by The Observer as the “unchallenged sovereign" of the instrument.

Pre-Concert performance, 6pm

Before this performance of Turangalîla-Symphonie in Barbican Hall, Guildhall mezzo soprano Alexandra Achillea Pouta and pianist Élisabeth Pion perform Messiaen's song cycle, Harawi, in Milton Court Concert Hall. Admission free.
