Join Francesca Souza for a guided tour of Postwar Modern, focusing on her late father, the British Indian artist Francis Newton Souza’s extraordinary legacy within postwar British art.

Postwar Modern: New Art in Britain 1945-65 is a landmark reassessment of the art produced in Britain after the Second World War, a period when artists had to make sense of an entirely altered world. Focusing on ‘the new’, the exhibition features 48 artists and around 200 works of painting, sculpture, photography, collage and installation.

A graduate alumna of Goldsmiths College of Art, the Institute of Education and recently CGLAS (Art and Material Histories), Francesca Souza is an artist, educator, lecturer and writer, born and living in London.  As the daughter of Czech refugee actress, Liselotte Kristian and the British Indian painter FN Souza, her perspective on art appreciation and cultural appropriation is informed and shaped by inherited diasporic discourse, academic study and immersed experience.
