Lauren Hadaway's electrifying debut feature follows Alex (Isabelle Fuhrman) and her singular obsession with the university rowing team.

A fascinating exploration of a young woman's pursuit for greatness, The Novice depicts the gruelling psychological and physical transformation Alex undertakes in her search for belonging. As the training takes its toll, Alex loses her friends, girlfriend and all other connections to the world outside of rowing, allowing Hadaway to take an unflinching look at the mental and emotional cost.
