London Symphony Orchestra Family Concert

How to Build an Orchestra

Family concert

Join the LSO and animateur Rachel Leach as they guide you through the instruments and the amazing sounds an orchestra can make.

From Beethoven to Britten, Mozart to Ravel hear the strings, woodwind, brass and percussion show how they all are vital pieces of the orchestral make up.

This concert is inspired by the award winning book How to Build an Orchestra by Mary Auld, with illustrations by Elisa Paganelli and written in collaboration with the orchestra, following a conductor who is auditioning each instrument for his orchestra, and featuring illustrations of Sir Simon Rattle and real LSO players. You can order the book online, or purchase a copy when you come to see the concert.
