English art director and graphic designer Peter Saville takes us through the creative process behind the poster for Michael Clark's current/SEE.

Originally designed in 1998 but swiftly removed from billboards by local authorities because of the angle of ‘elevation’ depicted in the image, Peter Saville's shares his experience creating the poster for current/SEE.

We re-created that poster for the show at the Barbican. And in order to kind of get the facts straight, I spoke to Alex to hear what took place. He very diplomatically put it that the elevation of the image contravened the statutory 45 degrees. I found this notion quite amusing. A c*ck is not offensive unless it is elevated above 45 degrees, apparently.
