Kaushiki Chakraborty

Kaushiki Chakraborty

The celebrated singer of Indian Classical music showcases her mastery of khayal and thumri styles of Hindustani vocal lyricism, as part of Darbar Festival 2017.

With her gleaming voice accompanied by Satyajit Talwalkar (tabla) and Ajay Joglekar (harmonium), this is a chance to experience one of the world’s evolving Classical traditions kept alive by some of India’s most virtuosic performers. Stirring, transporting and totally enchanting.

Coming from a musical family – Chakraborty’s father and teacher is the renowned singer Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty – and hailed as a prodigy when she first emerged as a performer, she has established herself as one of the finest interpreters of the style, completely devoted to the music and its depth and spirituality. This is music that will stir your inner core and slowly but surely, transporting you away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
