First up, Youthsayers - a group of young musicians conceived, directed and mentored by the afrodub Soothsayers. They're joined by the National Youth Jazz Collective, born out of an annual Summer School and celebrating the programme's 10th anniversary.
(Im)Possibilities, brought together by Barbican Guildhall Creative Learning, is a band open to multiple genres, grasping Jazz's spirit of exploration. They've performed with the likes of Sons of Kemet and Orphy Robinson before. Then finally, before handing over to Brad Mehldau and Chris Thile in the Barbican Hall, the Trinity Laban Contemporary Jazz Ensemble perform a selection of works by UK composers including Huw Warren, Iain Ballamy and Mark Lockheart.
