Mari (12A)

Mari

This beautiful dance-drama focuses on dancer-choreographer Charlotte (Bobbi Jene Smith), her sister and mother, as they deal with the devastating decline and passing of their matriarch, Mari.

When Mari’s health worsens, Charlotte (Smith) takes time away from working on a show in the City, to spend time with her mother and sister at Mari’s house in the country. Tensions in the house are palpable, but the family slowly begins to confront their strained relationships with one another and find a way through a time of shared loss.

With choreography by Maxine Doyle (Associate Director and choreographer at Punchdrunk), Georgia Parris’ debut feature is sprinkled with beautiful movements and showcases not only Bobbi Jene Smith’s exquisite dancing, but also her riveting acting performance.
