Sunset (15)

Woman standing by a train

Framed against the backdrop of a fading Austro-Hungarian empire and impending World War I, Sunset explores life in Budapest in a mysterious fin-de-siècle drama.

Irisz (Juli Jakab) returns to Budapest in 1913, a haunted young woman and accomplished milliner. She seeks employment in a shop that had once belonged to her parents, before they died in a catastrophic fire many years before. But the real reason for her return is to find out the truth about her brother, an illusive character who moves in dark circles. The more Irisz learns the more she is dragged in to a tumultuous and mad world.

This is the second feature film from director, László Nemes, who won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2016 for his feature debut, Son of Saul.
