Diamantino (15)

A small footballer wading through pink fluff

Melding genres and mocking the cult of fame, there's never a dull moment in this delightfully madcap Portuguese comedy.

Diamantino, a footballer so famous he is known simply by his first name, has lost his special touch missing the decisive kick at the 2018 World Cup.

His career in disgrace, he finds himself on a delirious ride confronting neo-fascism, adopting a refugee and being, er, cloned in a governmental football propaganda scheme.

High-octane and high-kitsch, Gabriel Abrantes and Daniel Schmidt's first feature is a brilliantly escapist step outside of reality which scooped Grand Prix winner at Cannes Critics’ Week.
