The great Polish pianist Piotr Anderszewski makes a welcome return to the Barbican with a recital contrasting masterpieces by Bach and Beethoven with the heady world of Szymanowski and the extreme concision of Webern.

For tonight’s recital we welcome Maxim Vengerov – who this year celebrates a remarkable 40-year performing career – and Polina Osetinskaya; their contrasted programme explores the intertwined worlds of Clara and Robert Schumann and Brahms and, in the second part, a 20th-century icon: Prokofiev.
