Perfect Blue [4K Restoration] (18)

A women with her shadow

Master Animator Satoshi Kon's cult horror sees a celebrity's reality unravel in a pop fever dream.

Rising pop idol Mima leaves the stage to pursue acting and modelling, but her devoted fans refuse to let her go. Pushed by her managers into a role on a hit TV drama, she soon finds those around her turning up murdered.

Plagued by guilt and haunted by visions of her former self, Mima spirals into paranoia as the line between reality and illusion dissolves. Meanwhile, a stalker lurks both online and in the shadows, closer, and far more dangerous than she dares imagine.

Satoshi Kon’s debut Perfect Blue stunned audiences as the first animated film to plunge fully into psychological suspense. Premiering in Japan in 1998 after festival acclaim, it blurs the borders of stage and screen, dream and delusion, reality and reflection.
