Here We Are (12A)

a father and his grown up son sit together on a bus

A powerful father-son runaway adventure, this Israeli drama features brilliant performances and a light touch from director Nir Bergmann.

This drama focuses on the relationship between father Aharon (Shai Avivi) and his son Uri (Noam Imber), who is a young man in his 20s. As the film unfolds we understand that Aharon gave up his career to care for Uri, and Uri needs his father around in order to navigate the world around him.

The interdependence between the two men concerns Uri's mother, Tamara, who believes Uri needs to learn to live semi-independently. After finding an assisted living facility for Uri, Tamara implores Aharon to let go. Aharon has other ideas, and instead decides to take his son on the run.

A quietly devastating film and draws on person experience from the screenwriter, Dana Idisis, Here We Are is delicate film with superb performances.
