Guildhall Symphony Orchestra
conducted by Jessica Cottis
This is an online event hosted on the Guildhall website.
Guildhall School welcomes the award-winning Australian-British conductor Jessica Cottis to conduct an exhilarating programme of Missy Mazzoli, Janáček and Sibelius.
Missy Mazzoli’s 2011 work Violent, Violent Sea features alongside Leoš Janáček's famous, brass-filled Sinfonietta and Jean Sibelius's glorious First Symphony.
To allow for social distancing, the musicians' performances will take place across different venues at the School, and synced using groundbreaking low latency technology.
Conductor Jessica Cottis has captured international attention for her intellect, innate musicality and easy authority. Hailed as "gifted" (The Times) and “cool, contained, super-articulate and engaging” (The Scotsman), she is a charismatic figure on the podium who brings dynamism and clarity of vision to all her performances.
Presented by Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
This concert is part of Guildhall School's 2020 Autumn Season, which offers the chance to watch more than 70 events online, free of charge, from September to December.
