Jonah Hill’s directorial debut resurrects the ever-summer of mid ‘90s Los Angeles in an after-school special of half pipes and self-discovery.

An evocative time capsule of Air Jordans, cassette mix tapes, skating and smoking, mid90s’ downtrodden lead Stevie (played by The Killing Of A Sacred Deer’s Sunny Suljic, otherwise surrounded by a cast of newcomers) works his way into the camaraderie and rivalries of an older group of skateboarders.

With an unfussy authenticity to Hill’s aesthetic in direct homage to Larry Clark’s Kids, we follow Stevie and his crew through the intoxicating thrills and first times of coming of age - their spiralling life choices ultimately coming to test the bonds of those most formative friendships.
