Into the Dark (18*) (International Competition 5)

London International Animation Festival 2019

a teenage boy rides a bike

The backbone of the whole LIAF mission.

We’ve emerged from under the pile of 2,600 entries to put together a series of screenings that showcase the best 85 new films from every corner of the world. The one thing they have in common is that we think they’re the pick of the crop. This is your annual window into the international indie animation universe.

In this programme veteran LIAF regulars Robert Morgan and Phil Mulloy return with the British premieres of their brand-new creepy, dsytopian masterpieces alongside several new kids on the block presenting all manner of dark, scary, violent and spooky films.

Subjects include turning a blind eye to what goes into our food, a young womans’ obsession with taxidermy and returning animals to their natural habitat, the plight of refugees in a lorry crossing the border and an exploration of abuse and dysfunctional family environments.
