Michelle Williams stars as John Paul Getty III's mother

Christopher Plummer is terrific as the real-life Scrooge in Ridley Scott’s tale of the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III.

Rome 1973. John Paul Getty (Christopher Plummer) is the richest man in the world. An oil magnate, he’s amassed a wealth almost as outrageous as his reputation as a miser. When his sixteen-year-old grandson John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer) is kidnapped by masked men, he still refuses to give up any of his fortune.

It’s up to Gail (Michelle Williams), the boy’s mother, to fight for her son, in the face of this obstinacy and increasingly violent threats from her son’s captors. When Getty sends his enigmatic security man Fletcher Chace (Mark Wahlberg) to look after his interests, he and Gail become unlikely allies in this race against time.
