Embark on a musical adventure with BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction festival with two days of ear-expanding live music.

The radio programme comes to life with performances from across the musical spectrum. Tonight, there’s innovative sci-fi electronica from Gazelle Twin, following her satirical 2018 album Pastoral; Hen Ogledd, founded by Richard Dawson, who bring together a mix of psych-pop, medieval lore and post-punk; Pulled By Magnets, Seb Rochford's (Polar Bear) new band with Pete Wareham and Neil Charles; and opening the evening is Chaines, whose album The King is a masterpiece of claustrophobic electro-acoustic music.

Late Junction is the flagship experimental music programme on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Sounds, with everything from Russian sound art to free jazz, ancient Japanese court music to Chicago footwork. The festival will feature live versions of the programme’s Collaboration Session, plus a live Late Junction Mixtape for the gathered audience.

‘I first discovered Late Junction in my teens. It was like tuning into a familiar but alternative reality, where I suddenly had access to mysterious, experimental and intriguing music from all origins‘

Mancunian artist Cee Haines delivers eight tracks of avant-garde electronic compositions that sit between fantasy soundtrack works and distinctly modern classical, Jacques Brodier-esque world building.
