Oscar® Week 2018: The Post (12A)

Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks in The Post

Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep star in this thrilling dramatization of the Washington Post’s battle with the US Government, directed by Steven Spielberg

Set in 1971, it tells the story of how Post editor Ben Bradee (Hanks) and publisher Katharine Graham (Streep) fought the law, the government — and in Graham’s case, open sexism — to publish key parts of the Pentagon Papers, which exposed the truth about US involvement in the Vietnam War.

Spielberg’s drama is a timely and gripping exploration of press freedom, political accountability and the cost of finding out the truth, with a fantastic supporting cast including Bob OdenkirkMatthew RhysSarah PaulsonBradley Whitford and Alison Brie
