Frankenstein (15)

Guillermo del Toro pieces together Mary Shelley's classic tale, with Oscar Isaac as Frankenstein, Jacob Elordi as his monster, and Mia Goth as Elizabeth.

The Oscar-winning director of Pan's Labrynth and The Shape of Water returns to the big screen with a long-awaited adaptation of Mary Shelley's canonical monster story.

Featuring Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina, Annihilation, Dune), Jacob Elordi (Saltburn, Priscilla, and soon to add Wuthering Heights), and Mia Goth (X, High Life, A Cure For Wellness), the cherry-picked cast is formed from seasoned fantasy actors, known for their ability to world-build.

Rumoured to have been written as a competition with friends whilst a howling storm rattled their holiday villa, Shelley's novel was ahead of its time for its exploration of identity and belonging.

Seasoned in religious iconography, the underworld and all things dark and fantastical, del Torro's work in the horror/fantasy realm have defined the cinema of the last 20 years.
