Ghibliotheque Presents: Éiru + The Secret of Kells + Q&A

A young woman runs through the air

A special opportunity to see the brand new short film from the renowned Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon, paired with their Oscar-nominated debut feature.

Cartoon Saloon’s enchanting new short film Éiru is a typically beguiling blend of rich storytelling and lush animation. Directed by Giovanna Ferrari, it is a timeless tale of warring clans and youthful spirit, as a young girl ventures into the belly of the earth on a journey of discovery.

Directed by studio co-founders Tomm Moore and Nora Twomey, The Secret of Kells kick-started Cartoon Saloon’s Irish Folklore Trilogy, and tells of a young boy living in a remote town in 9th century Ireland – and his adventures with the ancient, illuminated manuscript, the Book of Kells.

In between the films, Giovanna Ferrari and Nora Twomey will be joining us for a mid-screening Q&A hosted by Michael Leader and Jake Cunningham, creators of the Ghibliotheque podcast and co-authors of The Animation Atlas.
