The Seed of the Sacred Fig (15)

Three women look concerned inside an apartment.

An Investigating Judge's appointment has serious consequences for his wife and daughters in this powerful drama from Iran.

This critically acclaimed political drama was written, co-produced and directed by Mohammad Rasoulof. It centres on Iman, an investigating judge in the Revolutionary Court in Tehran, who grapples with paranoia due to the nationwide political protests as a result of the death of a young woman. The fictional narrative is combined with real images of recent protests in Iran that have been suppressed by the authorities.

The Seed of the Sacred Fig was nominated for the Palme d'Or last year at Cannes, winning the Special Jury Prize, and has been nominated as Germany's entry for Best International Feature Film at the upcoming 97th Academy Awards.

This taut Farsi-language drama stars Soheila Golestani, Missagh Zareh, Mahsa Rostami and Setareh Maleki
