London Symphony Orchestra/ Half Six Fix – Beethoven

with Thomas Adès

London SymphonyOrchestra performing on the Barbican Hall stage.

Kick-start your evening with a Half Six Fix concert. One piece in a 60-minute concert, introduced by the performers, with screens in the hall to bring you closer to the action.

Beethoven’s First Symphony is witty and elegant. Yet there are moments which foretell the bold, stormy moments that would follow in his later symphonies, such as the opening for the First’s finale.

Composer, conductor and regular LSO collaborator Thomas Adès introduces this performance, and leads the Orchestra in a piece brimming with passion and feeling.

‘When a composer as brilliant as Thomas Adès takes to the conductor’s podium you can be sure of something special.’ The Telegraph

Change of Conductor
Conductor François-Xavier Roth has withdrawn from his engagements with the London Symphony Orchestra in the 2024/25 season. The LSO is grateful to Thomas Adès for stepping in to conduct the Barbican concerts on 30 and 31 October. The programmes for these concerts will remain as originally planned.

This performance will end at approximately 7.30pm, without an interval (timings subject to change).
