Turning Red (PG)

Family Film Club

A group of young friends and a giant red panda peer over the roof of a house at night.

Only available in cinemas for a short period, this fantastic Disney title deserves to be seen on the biggest screen possible to get the full red panda experience!

Mei is a thirteen-year-old Chinese-Canadian living in Toronto, helping her parents to run their family shrine and working hard to succeed at school. However, the pressures of her family duty clashes with her growing interests outside of school and when her emotions are heightened, Mei turns into a giant red panda. This family ability is seen as a curse by her mother and she encourages Mei to banish the panda with a special ritual, but Mei learns to embrace the beast and must come to a decision on her own.

This wonderfully funny Pixar creation is based on director Domee Shi’s own upbringing in Toronto and is a glorious journey back to 2002 complete with boy-bands, grunge and Tamagotchi!

Please note: Adults can only come if they’re bringing a child, and children can only come along if accompanied by an adult. If you’re over 18, we’re afraid being a ‘big kid’ doesn’t count.
