Preview: Oliver Sacks: His Own Life (15) + Recorded Panel Discussion

Oliver Sacks smiling at the camera holding his motorbike

In this thought provoking and deeply moving film friends, family, colleagues and patients discuss the remarkable life and career of Dr Oliver Sacks.

London-born Oliver Sacks was a man of extremes. In his youth, he was a self-destructive, bodybuilding biker struggling with drug addiction and his own sexuality. In his maturity, he became a pioneering neurologist and the author of best-sellers such as Awakenings and The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat.

Filmed with full access to the man himself, and those closest to him this film celebrates Sacks’ incredible life and reminds us of his most important teaching: that our ability to connect with others is what truly makes us human.

Following the screening there is a recorded panel discussion, featuring Kate Edgar, his long time editor and friend, his partner Billy Hayes, Suzanne O'Sullivan, a neurologist inspired by his work and the director, Ric Burns
